Lance Simmon’s Heavy Research Technique presents a confounded phraseology absurd and fantastic. Coupled with Simmons vocabulary are line drawings as situations populated by tiny grid stages, visualized energy fields, floating faux three-dimensional geometry, suspended puddles, and melting masks.

Simmons, a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design’s sequential art program, has self published several volumes of his line drawings and comics including The Owl (2008), Slime Farmer (2008), and Kensington Death Urge (2008). Simmons is part of the faculty at The Philadelphia Institute for Advanced Study where he conducts acoustic research with his solo noise project: Dick Neff. He lives and works in the South Kensington area of North Philadelphia.
